Jackson has been a patient at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for almost 5 years, since being diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. A key part of his medical journey has been the support he and his family receive from Child Life Specialists.
Jackson is giving back by serving as a junior ambassador for CHLA. He speaks about his medical journey at fundraisers, and represents the hospital at public events.
Seeing that there was little information for new patients experiencing MRIs, he created this children's book for Child Life Specialists to share with their patients.
His hope is to get this book into the hands of every child who needs some love and support when getting an MRI.
Certified Child Life Specialists provide evidence-based, developmentally appropriate interventions including therapeutic play, preparation and education that reduce fear, anxiety, and pain for children and youth.
